Enterprise Life and Work is a 12 week project which will support young offenders in Perth Prison and Castle Huntly Prison to learn about enterprise and gain essential employment skills. 48 young offenders aged 16-30 who are currently detained in Castle Huntly prison and Perth Prison will be supported to develop a business idea, to assess what needs to happen to make their idea work, to carry through the process to actually selling or making a product and. to achieve an employability qualification. After completion of the initial training, staff will offer ongoing advice and support to participants as they continue to develop their business ideas during the rest of their time in prison.
“The programme gave me new ideas and taught me how to have a structured business plan, how to breakdown information about cost, customer’s needs, cash flow and how to pick out the best ideas.”
