Banchory & District Initiative supports community projects in the Banchory area of South Aberdeenshire in Scotland. We help to build the confidence of participants in our projects and help them gain the skills to enter into employment. All the projects we manage are community projects, managed with and for, the benefit of our community.
Your support will allow us to develop a community café, ‘Banchory Community Hub’, which will provide catering and hospitality training and work experience in the South Aberdeenshire area. Specifically, this project will provide accredited hospitality and catering training for disadvantaged young people and people who are vulnerable and at risk due to mental illness. Having successfully completed the designated courses on offer, the participants will gain the confidence and self-esteem necessary to optimise their opportunity of going on to find employment.
With the help of the funding, we will provide 16 people with funding to progress through SVQ training courses, leading to employment in the hospitality industry within local hotels and restaurants. The funding will also allow us to support two young people through an apprenticeship scheme, as well as to provide work experience for up to a further 24 people at risk. Overall, the Banchory Community Hub will provide skills and opportunities for 42 people in the South Aberdeenshire area.
