We are Ayr Gaiety Partnership, a charity, social enterprise and performing arts organisation that run the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr. Supported by 150 volunteers, we act as a hub for local creative regeneration, engaging more people in high quality arts across Ayrshire.
As well as delivering 260 performances a year, and attracting audiences of over 60,000, we also work with 4,000 people across Ayrshire in care homes, community centres, youth centres and schools to engage them in all art forms.
Winning your funding means we can act on our plan to expand our Technical Theatre initiative by setting up a Technical Theatre Centre of Excellence, training 300 young people aged 12-25 across Ayrshire in technical theatre skills.
We plan to help develop skills, positive aspirations and self-efficacy for disadvantaged young people in an area of high youth unemployment and deprivation.
By introducing young people to technical theatre, an area of work with a national skills shortage, this project will map out key career routes and education pathways. Participants will learn about lighting, sound, design, construction and stage/production management skills through a series of projects, short courses and work experience.
This project will deliver increased levels of confidence, attainment and employment for the young people who take part.
