Granton Youth Centre works with young people living in the Forth Ward of North Edinburgh. This is an area of socio-economic deprivation where youngsters’ involvement in crime, substance misuse and anti-social behaviour are disproportionately higher than more affluent areas.
Our Employment and Positive Destination project will provide support to 16 to 25 year olds living in this area. The money we have secured will be used to fund staff who will run six 12-week employability programmes over 18 months, targeting 60 individuals. Of these, 48 will participate in a Personal Achievement Award at Edinburgh College. They will also get access to one-to-one support, life coaching and counselling, as well as help from other agencies.
